FAYETTEVILLE – J. Meekins poured in 21 points Thursday night to lead Alpha Academy to a 52-35 middle school boys basketball victory over Emereau Bladen. A. Carr tallied 8 points for Alpha.
Landyn Scott sparked the Emereau attack with 10 points. Jayce Hatcher pumped in 7 points. Joel Lewis followed with 6 points, and Tyler Eason finished with 5 points. Cooper Long added 4 points.
Baskets from Hatcher, Scott, Long and Lewis kept the Aviators within 13-8 at the quarter break. Eason popped in 2 baskets, and Conner Hill sank a free throw as Emereau stayed within 19-13 at halftime.
Hatcher rang up 2 baskets and a free throw in the 3rd period. Scott tossed in 2 baskets, and Hill flipped in a basket, but Alpha maintained a 33-24 lead.
Lewis threw in 2 baskets in the final quarter, and Scott canned a basket and 2 free throws. Long netted another basket, and Eason cashed in a free throw.
The Aviators will host Fayetteville Christian Tuesday.
