BLADENBORO – Bladenboro’s Bulldogs raced to a 19-5 first half lead en route to a 41-26 Waccamaw Middle School boys basketball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Monday night.
Center Deonte Lacy and Hezekiah Adams threw in first quarter baskets, and Landon Stanley and Gary Parker sank 2 free throws each as the Bulldogs built a 9-2 lead.
Anthony Mitchell nailed a 3-point shot and hit a free throw to lead a 10-3 Bladenboro second quarter surge. Lacy muscled in a basket and a free throw, and Stanley popped in a basket to pad the margin to 19-5.
NyQuan Richardson and Aniyaes Bethea netted baskets for Clarkton in the first half.
Samaj Dove bombed in a 3-point shot and hit a free throw, and Lee Barnes delivered a pair of baskets to spark a 12-8 Blue Devil rally in the third quarter that closed the gap to 27-17.
Stanley, Michael Young, Walter Bealon and Jabari Adams pumped in baskets for Bladenboro in the third period.
Parker took charge in the final quarter and filled the nets with four baskets. Lacy powered inside for two more buckets as the Bulldogs pulled away.
Dove drilled in a 3-point shot and a free throw in the final period for Clarkton, and Barnes canned a basket and a free throw.
Parker topped all scorers with 11 points. Lacy finished with 9 points, and Stanley racked up 8 points. Mitchell finished with 4 points.
Dove led the Blue Devils with 8 points, followed by Barnes with 7 points. Richardson finished with 6 points, and Bethea added 4 points.
Coach Phillip Penny’s Bulldogs will take a 2-0 record into the Christmas break. Clarkton is now 1-1 on the season.
