BLADENBORO – Gary Parker and Deonte Lacy combined for 26 points Thursday night to lead Bladenboro to a 48-24 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over Tar Heel.

Lacy worked the paint for a basket and 2 free throws, and Parker tossed in a basket and a free throw in the opening quarter as the Bulldogs took a 9-7 lead. Kearean Ballard netted a pair of baskets to keep the Panthers close.

Hezekiah Adams drilled in a 3-point shot, and Parker and Jabari Adams added baskets as the Bulldogs built an 18-14 halftime lead. Ballard canned 2 free throws and a basket for Tar Heel in the period.

Michael Young pumped in a trio of baskets and a free throw to lead a 17-6 Bladenboro third period run. Parker sank 4 free throws and a basket in the quarter, and Lacy and Landon Stanley popped in a basket each as the lead grew to 35-20.

Ikeir Murchison and Ahmir Stepps connected for a basket each for the Panthers, and Ballard hit 2 free throws in the quarter. Ballard and Aquani Hilton scored Tar Heel baskets in the final period.

Lacy powered in a trio of baskets in the fourth quarter, and Parker flipped in a basket and a free throw. Cade Allen and Jabari Allen threw in baskets for the Bulldogs.

Parker led the Bulldogs with 14 points, and Lacy followed with 12 points. Young finished with 7 points. Stanley and Jabari Adams totaled 4 points each.

Ballard topped the Panther scoring with 12 points. Jordan Underwood tallied 4 points.

Coach Phillip Penny’s Bulldogs, now 3-1, will play in the Bladen County Tournament Tuesday that will be hosted by Tar Heel.
