BLADENBORO – Hunter Hester and Tylik McCall combined for 29 points Thursday night to lead unbeaten Bladenboro to a 51-25 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over Tabor City.
Coach Joe Gore’s Bulldogs won the Waccamaw’s A League with an 8-0 conference record and posted a 10-0 overall record.
Hester topped all scorers with 16 points, and McCall fired in 13 points. Jackson Pait and Sincere McKinley tallied 6 points each for the winners, and center Kendell Lesane added 4 points.
Khalil Morgan and Nasir Hutchinson shared scoring honors for Tabor City with 10 points each.
McCall threw in 3 baskets, and Hester worked the paint for 2 baskets to start the game. Pait bombed in a 3-point shot, and Gavin Elks netted a basket as the Bulldogs grabbed an early 15-8 lead.
Hester and Lesane pounded the boards for 2 baskets each in the 2nd quarter. Pait popped in a basket, and McCall made a free throw as the Bulldog lead grew to 26-16 at halftime.
McCall cashed in 4 straight free throws in the 3rd quarter and added a basket. Hester sank 2 free throws and a basket to extend the Bladenboro lead to 36-22.
McKinley blistered the nets with a trio of baskets in the final period. Hester dropped in 2 baskets, Justin Spaulding and Joshua Martin pumped in a basket each, and Pait converted a free throw.
