Shy’Ron Adams poured in 20 points Thursday night to lead Bladenboro’s Bulldogs to a 59-37 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball victory at Tar Heel.

Tray Ballard pumped in 13 points for the winners, and Da’Shawn Hines followed with 8 points. Teammate Austin Smith finished with 7 points.

Tyre Boykin lit up the scoreboard with a game-high 23 points for Tar Heel. Teammate Shemaiah Leak followed with 8 points for the Panthers.

Boykin nailed a first quarter 3-point shot and another basket. Leak threw in 2 baskets in the period, and teammate Kendall Johnson added another as the Panthers grabbed an early 11-10 lead.

Hines dropped in 2 baskets for Bladenboro in the period, Ballard sank a basket and a free throw, and Logan West chipped in with another basket.

Adams hit 2 baskets and a free throw in the second quarter, and Hines netted 2 baskets. Ballard and West scored a basket each, and Ballard sank 2 free throws as Bladenboro edged in front 25-24.

Boykin fired in 4 baskets and a 3-point shot in the second period to keep Tar Heel close. Jadicus Register also tallied a Panther basket before halftime.

Adams blistered the nets with 4 baskets as the Bulldogs rode a 19-5 third quarter spurt to a 44-29 lead. Ballard buried a 3-point shot and another basket, and Tyrese Retamar found the mark with a trio of third quarter baskets for Bladenboro.

Boykin delivered a 3-point basket, and Johnson scored a basket for the Panther points in the period.

Adams pumped in a trio of baskets in the final quarter for Bladenboro. Austin Smith contributed 5 points for the Bulldogs in the period, and Ballard collected a basket and a free throw.

Leak nailed a 3-point shot in the final quarter for Tar Heel, and Boykin tallied 4 points in the period.

Bladenboro improved to 2-1 with the victory, while Tar Heel is now 0-2.
