BLADENBORO – ShyRon Adams blistered the nets with 38 points Thursday night to lead Bladenboro’s Bulldogs to a 61-41 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over Tar Heel.

Adams threw in 3 baskets and a free throw in the opening quarter, and teammate Donovan Stone tossed in 3 baskets as the Bulldogs built a 15-12 first quarter lead. Andrew Pait scored the other Bladenboro basket in the period.

Center Kai Belle worked the paint for a trio of Tar Heel baskets, and teammate Kendall Johnson dropped in 2 more baskets in the first quarter. Khalil Lloyd netted the other Panther basket in the period.

Adams delivered 4 more baskets in the second quarter, and Stone added one as the Bulldogs stretched their lead to 25-16 at halftime. Johnson tallied a basket and 2 free throws in the quarter for Tar Heel.

Adams fired in 4 more baskets and 2 free throws in the third period. Stone and Pait tossed in a basket each as the Bulldog lead grew to 38-25. Belle battled inside for a pair of Panther baskets, and Johnson and Jordan Underwood added a basket each.

Both teams lit up the scoreboard in the final quarter. Adams nailed a 3-point shot, four 2-point shots and 2 free throws. Teammate Bryley Williams drained a 3-point shot, Gary Parker and Jude Stanley popped in a basket each and Pait made 2 free throws.

Johnson buried a pair of 3-point shots and two 2-point shots for Tar Heel in the final period. Belle powered in 2 baskets, and Lloyd and Underwood sank a free throw each.

Stone finished with 10 points for the Bulldogs, and Pait followed with 6 points.

Johnson topped the Tar Heel scoring with 20 points, and Belle finished with 15 points.

Bladenboro improved to 4-2 with the victory. Tar Heel is now 2-4.
