CLARKTON – Lee Barnes and Samaj Dove scored 10 points each to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 40-18 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over Hallsboro Tuesday night.
Barnes tossed in 2 baskets and 2 free throws, and NyQuan Richardson dropped in 2 baskets in the first quarter to lead the Blue Devils to an early 12-7 lead.
Martin Rojas-Jacinto, Dove, and Barnes threw in a basket each in the second period to keep Clarkton ahead 18-14 at halftime.
Dove fired in a 3-point shot, another basket and a free throw to key a 12-4 third-quarter Blue Devil spurt. Lafon Monroe pumped in a couple of baskets as the Clarkton lead grew to 30-18.
Richardson, Monroe, Barnes, Corey Robbins and Rodney Lacewell scored a basket each for Clarkton during a 10-0 fourth quarter run.
Coach Robert Mazur’s Blue Devils evened their record at 2-2 and will host Williams Thursday.
