HALLSBORO – Clarkton School of Discovery rallied with a 28-15 second-half surge that produced a 43-39 Waccamaw Middle School Conference victory over Hallsboro Monday.

Three-point baskets by Jordan Smith and C. J. Waddell sparked Hallsboro to an early 10-6 lead. Lee Barnes threw in 2 baskets, and Blaine Pope tossed in one in the quarter for Clarkton.

Stewart and Smith connected on 3-balls in the second period as the Tiger lead grew to 24-15. Barnes pumped in 2 baskets, Rodney Lacewell muscled in a basket, and Dashon Campbell buried a 3-ball for the Blue Devils.

Matt Kemp and Noah Hall sparked the Blue Devil comeback with 3-balls in the third quarter. Barnes flipped in 2 baskets, and Kemp and Lacewell added baskets during a 14-5 run that tied the game 29-29.

Lacewell powered inside for 3 baskets in the final quarter. Hall fired in 2 baskets, and Barnes and Kemp netted baskets as the Blue Devils pulled out the victory.

Barnes topped the Blue Devil scoring with 14 points, Lacewell followed with 10 points, and Hall and Kemp finished with 7 points each. Smith led Hallsboro with 15 points.

Coach Robert Mazur’s Blue Devils improved to 3-1 in Waccamaw Division A play and are 5-1 overall. Clarkton will host Tabor City Thursday.
