EAST ARCADIA – J. T. Junious poured in 20 points Thursday to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 49-19 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over East Arcadia.
The Panthers raced to an early 12-4 lead as Roderick Grainger and Kari Price bombed in two 3-point shots each.
Donevin Keith and Nyshawn McMillian tossed in early baskets for the Blue Devils. Junious and Jake Garrison rallied Clarkton to within 12-8 at the quarter break with a basket each.
Junious dropped in 4 baskets in the second quarter as the Blue Devils rode a 12-4 run to a 20-16 halftime lead. Jacob Priest threw in a basket and a free throw, and Garrett Melvin made a free throw for CSD.
Grainger pumped in 2 baskets for the Panthers in the second quarter then drained a 3-point shot in the third period.
Junious racked up 4 more baskets in the third quarter as the Blue Devils broke loose with an 18-3 spurt to take a 38-19 lead. Priest drilled a 3-point shot and another basket, and Melvin buried a 3-point shot. Garrison added another basket.
Joseph Masaid connected for a pair of fourth quarter baskets for the Blue Devils. McMillian sank 2 free throws, and Priest hit one. Jackson Bostic and Junious contributed a basket each for CSD.
Priest finished with 9 points as Clarkton improved to 5-1 with win. Melvin, Garrison, McMillian and Masaid followed with 4 points each.
Grainger topped the East Arcadia scoring with 13 points, and Price finished with 6 points.
