CLARKTON- Lee Barnes blistered the nets with 34 points Thursday night to lead the Clarkton School of Discovery Blue Devils to a 55-24 Waccamaw Middle School Conference victory over Acme-Delco.
Barnes sparked the Blue Devils to an early 21-9 lead by scoring 6 baskets in the opening period. Blaine Pope pumped in 2 baskets, Noah Hall sank 3 free throws, and Rodney Lacewell powered in a basket.
Three more baskets from Barnes kept the Clarkton lead at 31-18 at halftime. Hall and Lacewill contributed a basket each in the second period.
Barnes poured in 4 more baskets in the third quarter as the lead ballooned to 43-21. Hall netted a basket, and Sherman Long canned a free throw. Barnes fired in 4 more baskets in the final period, and Hall popped in 2 more baskets to finish with 11 points.
Coach Robert Mazur’s Blue Devils improved to 2-1 in Waccamaw Division A play and are 4-1 overall. Clarkton will travel to Hallsboro Monday.
