TAR HEEL – Xavier King and Braylon Waddell tossed in 7 points each to lead East Columbus to a 29-20 Waccamaw Middle School Conference ‘AA” Division boys’ basketball victory over Tar Heel Thursday night.
Cedrick McKiver and Demarius Guions sank 2 free throws each to keep Tar Heel within 8-4 early. Levi Garcia drained a 3-point shot and added 3 free throws in the 2nd quarter for the Panthers. Shyron Thompson pumped in a basket, and Keon Whittington made a free throw to trim the East lead to 19-13 at halftime.
Garcia and Ronnie Labra threw in baskets for Tar Heel in the 2nd half. McKiver cashed in 2 free throws, and Whittington hit one. Garcia led all scorers with 8 points for the Panthers. McKiver finished with 4 points.
The Panthers concluded their season with a 1-10 record. East Columbus posted a 6-5 mark.
