CLARKTON – Malcolm Bolden and Raymond Autry combined for 23 points to lead Elizabethtown to a 31-23 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over Clarkton School of Discovery Tuesday night.

Bolden fired in a 3-point shot and 2 more baskets in the first quarter, and Autry dropped in a basket as the Cougars edged ahead 9-8. Nazire Smith and Sam Inscoe tossed in 2 baskets each for the Blue Devils in the first period.

Autry sank a basket and 2 free throws in the second quarter, and Bolden popped in a basket and a free throw. Jacob Nixon flipped in a basket as the Cougars grew their halftime lead to 18-10. Samaj Dove scored the only Clarkton basket in the quarter.

Smith and Dove hurled in third quarter baskets for the Blue Devils. Lamont Pridgen hit 2 free throws, and Smith added one.

Bolden canned a basket and a free throw in the third quarter, and Timothy McLean and Ty Mathis threw in a basket each to keep the Cougar lead at 25-17.

Autry connected for a couple of final quarter baskets, and McLean added one for the Cougars. Dove rang up a pair of fourth period baskets for Clarkton, and Inscoe netted one basket.

Bolden led all scorers with 13 points, and Autry followed with 10 points for the winners. Dove topped the Blue Devil scoring with 8 points, and Smith followed with 7 points. Inscoe finished with 6 points.

The Cougars improved to 2-0 on the season. Clarkton is now 2-1.
