LAKE WACCAMAW- Elizabethtown rolled to leads of 8-0, 18-3 and 22-11 en route to a 36-17 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over East Columbus Wednesday night.

Ayden Williams ignited an early 8-0 Cougar run with a pair of baskets, and teammates Ronnie Covington and Torrean Cogdell added a basket each. Isaiah Lee buried a 3-point shot and another basket in the 2nd period, and Cogdell sank 3 foul shots and a basket as the halftime lead grew to 18-3.

Lee and Braylon Cromartie threw in Cougar baskets in the 3rd period, and Cromartie nailed a pair of 3-point shots in the final quarter. Lee dropped in 2 more baskets, and Covington and Cogdell tossed in a basket each.

Lee led the Cougar scoring with 11 points, and Cogdell followed with 9 points. Cromartie totaled 8 points, and Williams finished with 4 points. Adrion Jenrette topped the Hawk scoring with 7 points.

Coach Larry Williams’ Cougars raised their record to 3-2 and will host Whiteville Central Tuesday.
