WHITEVILLE – Elizabethtown rallied in the second half to defeat Williams Township 37-32 Tuesday night in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys basketball action.
The Cougars trailed 23-20 at halftime, but Malcolm Bolden drove for a pair of baskets, and Jacob Nixon and Cameron White added a basket each to vault Elizabethtown in front 28-27 at the quarter break.
Zamar Lewis took charge in the final period tossing in a trio of baskets, and Nixon added a basket as the Cougars pulled away.
Bolden topped the Elizabethtown scoring with 11 points. Nixon finished with 7 points, and Lewis and Dominick Collins followed with 6 points each.
Bolden pumped in a trio of baskets and a free throw to lead the Cougars to a 14-9 first quarter lead. Collins tossed in a pair of baskets, and Nixon buried a 3-point shot.
Jamal Brown who led the Williams scoring with 24 points scored all 9 of the Aggies’ first period points then popped in 6 more points as Williams rode a 14-6 surge to the 23-20 halftime lead.
Collins, Yontee Dobson and Phillip McKiver flipped in baskets for the Cougars in the second period.
Coach Larry Williams’ Cougars improved to 4-0 and will host Whiteville Central Thursday night.
