ELIZABETHTOWN – Isaiah Lee fired in 14 points to lead Elizabethtown to a 44-24 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over West Columbus Thursday night.
Torrean Cogdell and Braylon Cromartie pumped in 9 points each for the winners, and teammate Ronnie Covington tallied 8 points. Ayden Williams added 4 points for the Cougars. Demond Williams and Brennen Little shared scoring honors for the Warriors with 6 points each.
Lee and Cogdell threw in 2 baskets each in the 1st quarter, and Covington dropped in a basket as the Cougars edged ahead 10-9. Cogdell nailed a 3-point shot and another basket in the 2nd period. Williams tossed in 2 baskets, Cromartie sank 2 foul shots, and Lee netted a basket to stretch the Elizabethtown halftime lead to 23-15.
Cromartie lit up the scoreboard with a 3-point basket and 2 other baskets to spark an 11-0 Cougar blitz in the 3rd quarter. Lee and Covington hurled in baskets to open up a 34-15 lead. Lee poured in 3 baskets in the final period, and Covington worked the paint for 2 more baskets.
Coach Larry Williams’ Cougars completed their season with a 5-5 record.
