TAR HEEL – Center Lancine Soumanoro pumped in 12 points to lead Tar Heel to a 41-28 boys basketball victory over East Arcadia Thursday in Bladen Five Middle School Conference action.
Anthony Cowan fired in a 3-point bomb and another basket in the opening quarter as Tar Heel raced to a 12-6 lead. Soumanoro worked the paint for a pair of baskets, and Antonio Candelaria sank a trio of free throws.
Emanuel Lewis bombed in a 3-point shot and another basket for East Arcadia in the first quarter, and teammate Kenneth Armstrong added a free throw.
Soumanoro and Candelaria threw in 2 baskets each in the second quarter, and Cowan and Cory Clanton tossed in a basket each as the Tar Heel lead grew to 24-10 at halftime.
Armstrong and Trevon Sowers connected for baskets in the second period for the visitors.
Soumanoro battled inside for 2 more baskets in the third period, and Ke Shawn Ballard, Larry Council and Serinni Washington popped in a basket each to keep the Tar Heel lead at 34-17.
Sowers buried a 3-point shot for East Arcadia in the third quarter, Corey Robbins sank 2 free throws, and Emanuel Lewis netted a basket.
Emanuel Lewis racked up 2 more baskets in the final quarter and led the visitors scoring with 11 points. Robbins delivered a basket and a free throw in the period, and Malaquie Lewis and Oliverio Matias tallied baskets. Sowers and Robbins finished with 5 points each for East Arcadia.
Council drained a 3-point shot for Tar Heel in the final quarter, and Saquan Lewis and Tucker Carroll netted a basket each. Candelaria and Cowan finished with 7 points each for the winners.
