 EAST ARCADIA – Kendall Johnson and Khalil Lloyd combined for 31 points to lead Tar Heel to a 41-33 Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over East Arcadia.
 
Johnson topped all scorers with 19 points, and Lloyd finished with 12 points. Kai Belle scored 7 points for the winners.
 
Kari Price fired in a 3-point shot, two more baskets and a free throw in the opening quarter as East Arcadia grabbed a 10-7 lead. Teammate Emanuel Lewis added a basket.
 
Johnson threw in a pair of baskets for Tar Heel in the opening quarter. Lloyd tossed in a basket, and Belle made a free throw.
 
The visitors took charge with a 15-3 second quarter run. Johnson blistered the nets with 5 baskets, Lloyd dropped in a basket and a free throw, and Belle tacked on a basket for a 22-13 Tar Heel lead at halftime.
 
Johnson, Belle, Lloyd and Jordan Underwood netted baskets in the third quarter to keep Tar Heel on top 30-24.
 
Price bombed in a 3-pointer, scored a basket and a free throw for East Arcadia in the quarter, and Roderick Grainger nailed a 3-point shot and another basket.
 
Lloyd drained a 3-point shot and another basket for Tar Heel in the final period. Johnson sank a basket and a free throw, and Belle added a basket.
 
Grainger popped in 2 baskets in the final quarter for East Arcadia. Price rang up another basket and led the East Arcadia scoring with 18 points. Grainger finished with 9 points.
 
Tar Heel improved to 2-3 with the win.
