TAR HEEL – Unique Kelly and Tristan Tubbs keyed a 33-12 first-half surge that propelled West Columbus to a 47-19 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys basketball victory over Tar Heel Thursday night.

Kelly tallied 12 of his team-high 14 points for the Warriors in the first half, while Tubbs racked up 8 of his 10 points before intermission.

I’Keir Murchison nailed a 3-point shot and 3 free throws in the first period then threw in 3 baskets in the second quarter for Tar Heel. Murchison pumped in 2 more baskets in the third quarter, and Messyah Whitted tossed in a field goal. Jahir Martinez sank a Panther free throw in the final quarter.

Murchison topped all scorers with 16 points for the Panthers who will host Bladenboro Tuesday night.
