BLADENBORO – Amari Best scored 13 points Tuesday night as Whiteville Central held off Bladenboro 42-38 in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys basketball action.

The Hornets built a 28-19 halftime lead, but the Bulldogs outscored Central 19-14 in the second half to trim the final margin to four points. Center Deonte Lacy fired in 12 points to lead the Bladenboro scoring.

Bladenboro, now 2-1, will host Tar Heel Thursday.
