WHITEVILLE – Whiteville Central completed an undefeated season with a 46-18 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ basketball victory over Elizabethtown Wednesday night.
Caleb McLean led the winners who captured the Waccamaw’s AA League championship with 12 points. Nine of the 10 Hornets who played in the game scored.
Ronnie Covington dropped in a basket for Elizabethtown in the opening period. Covington, Ayden Williams and Torrean Cogdell pumped in 2nd quarter baskets for the Cougars.
Braylon Cromartie and Cogdell tossed in 3rd period Elizabethtown baskets, and Covington and Williams sank free throws. John Monroe drained a 3-point shot for the Cougars in the 4th quarter, and Cromartie added a free throw.
Covington topped the Cougar scoring with 5 points. Cogdell followed with 4 points, and Williams, Cromartie and Monroe finished with 3 points each.
Elizabethtown, now 4-5, will host West Columbus Thursday in their regular season finale.
