CLARKTON – Jamal Brown poured in 14 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter and overtime to lead a Williams rally that overtook Clarkton School of Discovery 39-35 Thursday night in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys basketball action.
The Blue Devils took a 26-19 lead into the final period, but Brown pumped in 4 baskets and 4 free throws to pull the Aggies even at 35-35.
Corey Robbins drained a 3-point shot, and Rodney Lacewell, Nyquan Richardson and Lee Barnes threw in baskets for Clarkton to send the game to overtime.
Brown sank 2 free throws as the Aggies outscored the Blue Devils 4-0 in the extra period to claim the win.
Richardson topped the Blue Devil scoring with 10 points, and Barnes followed with 9 points. Robbins finished with 5 points.
Barnes fired in a 3-point shot, and Richardson tossed in 2 baskets as the Blue Devils edged in front 7-6 at the first quarter break.
Samaj Dove flipped in a pair of second period baskets, and Shannon Hankins bombed in a 3-point shot. Richardson, Barnes and Aniyaes Bethea added baskets to put Clarkton up 20-15 at halftime.
Richardson, Barnes and Robbins netted baskets in the third quarter to push the Clarkton lead to 26-19.
The Blue Devils, now 2-3, will play at Tar Heel Tuesday in the Bladen County Tournament.
