DELCO – Acme-Delco scored in the sudden death penalty kick shootout to edge Clarkton School of Discovery in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys soccer action.
The teams battled to a scoreless tie in regulation and remained scoreless through the first shootout round of 5 penalty kicks by each team. The teams went through 2 scoreless sudden death penalty kick rounds, before the Trojans scored in the 3rd sudden death round.
Blue Devil goalkeeper Lee Barnes recorded a shutout in regulation play and blocked 4 of the 8 penalty kicks in overtime by the Trojans. “Lee had never played before,” said Coach Jordan Raynor. “He is a true athlete and a team player.”
The Blue Devils, now 2-2, will host Hallsboro on Tuesday at Bladen County Park.
