(Bladenboro Wins Shootout 3-0)

Bladenboro fired in goals on their first three attempts of the shootout to clinch their first Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys soccer victory of the season over Clarkton School of Discovery Tuesday night.

The teams were tied 2-2 after regulation play. Josh DeLeon drilled the first penalty kick of the shootout into the net for the Bulldogs. After Clarkton missed, Ricky Brisson belted his penalty kick into the goal for a 2-0 Bladenboro lead.

The Blue Devils missed on their second kick, and Jordan Porter slammed into the net what proved to be the decisive kick for the Bulldogs. Clarkton missed on their third kick against Bladenboro goalie Gary Parker and the victory was secured.

Clarkton took a 1-0 lead on an ‘own’ goal ten minutes into the first half of regulation. Bladenboro tied the score three minutes later when Porter sent a pass to DeLeon who finished the shot into the goal.

Porter blasted in a direct kick from outside the box to put the Bulldogs ahead 2-1 at halftime. Clarkton tied the game in the second half when Sam Inscoe banged in a goal off of a throw-in from Garrett Masaid.

Bladenboro will close out the season Thursday against Tar Heel, while Clarkton will battle first-place Elizabethtown.
