NAKINA – Aiden Russ fired in a pair of goals to lead Bladenboro to a 4-1 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ soccer victory over Nakina Tuesday.
After a scoreless 1st half, Hezekiah Blanks blasted in a penalty kick to put the Bulldogs ahead 1-0. Teammate Gavin Elks knocked in the 2nd Bladenboro goal, and Russ delivered his 1st goal as the Bladenboro lead grew to 3-0.
After Nakina trimmed the margin to 3-1, Russ drilled a 20-yard shot from the left side that sailed across the mouth of the net and into the right corner for his 2nd goal and a 4-1 Bulldog lead.
Blanks, the Bladenboro goalkeeper, stopped Nakina’s only penalty kick attempt with a save in the 1st half.
It was the season opener for Coach Steve Thurman’s Bulldogs who will host Clarkton School of Discovery Thursday.
