BLADENBORO – Diego Santos-Hernandez poured in a ‘Hat Trick’ plus one of 4 goals Thursday and led Bladenboro to a 6-3 Waccamaw Middle School Conference A Division boys’ soccer victory over Tabor City.

In the 4th minute of play, Santos-Hernandez opened the scoring with a Bulldog goal. Two minutes later teammate Dionel Heromino-DeLeon found the back of the net with a goal that padded the lead to 2-0. Santos-Hernandez banged in his 2nd goal in the 11th minute that grew the Bulldog lead to 3-0.

The Eagles rallied with 2 goals in the next 6 minutes to slice the lead to 3-2, before Santos-Hernandez recorded his ‘Hat Trick’ with a goal in the 20th minute that padded the lead to 4-2. However Tabor City trimmed the margin to 4-3 at halftime.

Bladenboro failed to connect on 2 penalty kicks in the 2nd half, but Keonte Hill drilled in an insurance goal in the 16th minute of the 2nd half for a 5-3 lead. In the final minutes, Santos-Hernandez knocked in his 4th goal of the game.

Coach Steve Thurman’s Bulldogs completed their season in 2nd place in the Waccamaw’s A division with a 6-2 conference record and 6-3 overall mark.
