BLADENBORO – Hezekiah Blanks and Cade Allen blasted in penalty kicks Monday night to lift Bladenboro to a Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys soccer victory over Clarkton School of Discovery.

The two teams were tied 2-2 after regulation, and the Blue Devils’ Lafon Monroe knocked in their first penalty kick in the shootout. Blanks banged in the tying shot for the Bulldogs to tie the shootout 1-1.

After Bulldog goalie Gary Parker stopped the next Clarkton attempt, Cade Allen fired in the go-ahead shot for Bladenboro.

Parker turned away the next three Blue Devil attempts in the shootout to secure the Bulldog victory.

The Blue Devils took a 1-0 lead in the thirteenth minute as Samaj Dove turned an assist from Matt Kemp into a goal. Ten minutes later Rasheem Freeman drilled in another Clarkton goal for a 2-0 lead.

The Bulldogs answered midway the second half when Blanks hammered in a penalty kick after a foul in the box. With Bladenboro trailing 2-1, Blanks raced down the field on a breakaway and slammed in the tying goal with 2 minutes left in regulation.

Coach Steve Thurman’s Bulldogs improved to 3-0 on the season and will play Elizabethtown Tuesday at 5 p.m. at County Park. The Blue Devils will host Williams at 3:45 Tuesday at County Park.
