Malcolm Bolden lit up the scoreboard with 5 goals Tuesday night to lead Elizabethtown to a 9-0 victory over Bladenboro in Bladen Five Middle School Conference boys soccer action at County Park.

Bolden also distributed a trio of assists to go with his ‘Hat Trick’ plus two goal total. Teammate Sammy Valerio also recorded a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals for the Cougars.

Ismael Arteaga scored the other Cougar goal and dished out one assist. Jamie Delgado was credited with a trio of assists for the winners, and Chase Starkloff added one assist.

Starkloff led the Cougar defense with 15 steals, and Raymond Autry collected 13 steals. Ahmad Powell had 4 blocks for the winners, and Joel Johnson and Tyreon Graham had one block each.

Timothy McLean had 2 saves in goal for the Cougars and picked up the shutout.

Valerio turned a Bolden assist into an Elizabethtown goal in the second minute of play. In the fourth minute, Bolden assisted on Arteaga’s goal, and a minute later the roles reversed as Arteaga’s assist resulted in a Bolden goal and a 3-0 Cougar lead.Bolden fired in two more goals off of assists from Delgado and Starkloff as the lead grew to 5-0 in the tenth minute. Bolden closed out the half with an assist to Valerio for his second goal and a 6-0 lead at intermission.

In the third minute of the second half, Bolden converted a Delgado feed into a goal. Four minutes later Valerio posted his third goal off of a pass from Delgado. Bolden ended the game with his fifth goal nine minutes into the second half.

Elizabethtown will battle Tar Heel next Tuesday at County Park, after Bladenboro plays Clarkton School of Discovery in the 4 p.m. opener.
