ELIZABETHTOWN –Elizabethtown edged Tar Heel 4-3 in a penalty kick shootout after the 2 teams battled to a 4-4 tie in regulation play in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys soccer action Monday.
Fernando Rebollar Chavez, Chace Butler, Gabriel Algozy and Colton Daly fired in the deciding goals in the shootout for the Cougars. Christopher Labra, Kevyn Labra and Alejandro Lopez scored the Panther shootout goals.
In regulation play Tevin McClean drilled in 2 goals for the Cougars, and Algozy and Fernando Rebollar Chavez found the back of the net with one goal each.
Christopher Labra recorded a ‘Hat Trick’ with 3 goals in regulation play for the Panthers. Enrique Rodriguez banged in the other Tar Heel goal.
It was the season opener for both teams.
