TAR HEEL – Cristian Rodriguez fired in a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals in the 1st half as Tar Heel rolled to a 9-0 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ soccer victory over Whiteville Central Tuesday.
Cristian Rodriguez curled in a corner kick for his 1st goal then knocked in another goal off of a crossing pass from Alejandro Lopez. Lopez blasted in a free kick to pad the Tar Heel lead to 3-0. Cristian Rodriguez completed his ‘Hat Trick’ by delivering a goal off of an assist from Levi Garcia. Lopez banged in an unassisted goal to boost the Panther halftime lead to 5-0.
An ‘own goal’ by Central pushed the lead to 6-0. Keon Whittington turned an assist from Alex Rodriguez into the goal that grew the lead to 7-0. Lopez’ 2nd assist of the game resulted in a goal for teammate Sterling Davis. Alex Rodriguez closed out the Panther scoring with an unassisted goal.
Wilvert Funez and Kevin Garcia split time in goal for the Panthers and teamed up for the shutout.
Coach Brett Jackson’s Panthers improved to 4-0 in Waccamaw AA Division play and 5-0 overall. Tar Heel will host 2nd place Elizabethtown Thursday.
