Middle School Football: Clarkton School of Discovery 30, Acme-Delco 9

ACME-DELCO – Matt Kemp rushed for over 100 yards and scored 2 touchdowns and a trio of 2-point conversions to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 30-9 Waccamaw Middle School Conference football victory over Acme-Delco on Tuesday night.

The Blue Devils drove 70 yards in 4 plays on their first possession of the game to take a 6-0 lead. Kemp carried 3 times on the drive and scored the touchdown.

The Trojans rallied in the second quarter, kicking a 30-yard field goal, then recovering a Blue Devil fumble and driving for a touchdown and a 9-6 lead.

The lead was short-lived as Noah Hall fired a 55-yard touchdown pass to Ja’Nathan Johnson on the next Blue Devil play from scrimmage. Kemp bolted into the end zone for the 2-point conversion and a 14-9 halftime lead.

Kemp opened the second half by galloping 55 yards for a touchdown on the first CSD play from scrimmage. Kemp ran for the 2-point conversion and a 22-9 lead.

The Trojans turned the ball over on downs, and the Blue Devils responded with an 8-play drive that featured the running of Kemp and Masion Brooks. Quarterback Lee Barnes kept the ball and scored the final touchdown. Kemp dashed across the goal line for the conversion and the final 30-9 margin.

Coach Robert Mazur’s Blue Devils improved to 3-1 on the season and will travel to Whiteville Central on Tuesday.
