CLARKTON – The Clarkton School of Discovery Blue Devils celebrated Homecoming Tuesday night with a 32-6 Waccamaw Middle School Conference football victory over Williams Township.

The Blue Devils opened the game with a 5-play scoring drive that resulted in a Ja’Nathan Johnson touchdown run. Quarterback Lee Barnes ran for the 2-point conversion and an 8-0 lead.

On their next possession, the Blue Devils needed 5 plays to score again. Noah Hall capped the drive with a touchdown pass to Johnson. Barnes carried into the end zone for the 2-point conversion and a 16-0 lead.

Later in the second period, Clarkton mounted another scoring drive in 6 plays. Barnes kept the ball and scored the touchdown. Matt Kemp dashed into the end zone for the 2-point conversion and a 24-0 lead.

Williams scored a third quarter touchdown to whittle the margin to 24-6.

The Blue Devils tacked on a final touchdown in the fourth quarter. Kemp darted into the end zone for the score, and Hall ran for the 2-point conversion.

Coach Robert Mazur’s Blue Devils improved to 2-1 on the season with the victory and will travel to Acme-Delco Tuesday night.
