Clarkton School of DiscoveryTAR HEEL – Samaj Dove scored five touchdowns Tuesday night to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 50-28 Bladen Five Middle School Conference football victory over Tar Heel.

Quarterback Anthony Candelaria raced 20 yards for a Panther touchdown in the first minute of play.

The Blue Devils answered as Robert McKoy powered into the end zone from 2 yards out. Javius Brooks ran the 2-point conversion to edge Clarkton ahead 8-6 with 3:54 left in the opening quarter.

Back came the Panthers as Candelaria threw a 48 yard touchdown pass to Lancine Soumahoro to put Tar Heel ahead 12-8 with 2:28 remaining in the period.

Clarkton drove the ball to the Panther one yardline. On fourth down Dove bulled into the end zone for a 14-12 Blue Devil lead.

Anthony McGill dashed 14 yards for a second quarter Blue Devil touchdown. Brooks carried into the end zone for the 2-point conversion and a 22-12 lead.

The Panther rallied as Candelaria fired a 20-yard touchdown pass to Ke’Shawn Ballard. Candelaria kept the ball and darted into the end zone for the 2-point conversion that pulled Tar Heel to within 22-20 with 2:13 left in the half.

Dove scored his second touchdown 30 seconds before halftime to pad the Blue Devil lead to 28-20.

Dove broke loose for touchdown runs of 34 and 20 yards in the third quarter. Lafon Monroe ran the 2-point conversion after the first touchdown in the period.

The Clarkton lead grew to 42-20 before Candelaria fired a 30-yard touchdown pass to Soumahoro 1:17 before the quarter break. Candelaria scored his third 2-point conversion to close the gap to 42-28.

Dove galloped 60 yards for the final Clarkton touchdown then ran the 2-point conversion with 2:08 left in the game.

Candelaria passed for 3 touchdowns and ran for another touchdown and the trio of 2-point conversions as he had a hand in all of the Panther points.

Clarkton improved to 3-1 with the victory.
