TAR HEEL – Bladenboro outscored Tar Heel 13-8 in the second half to claim a 20-14 Bladen Five Middle School girls basketball victory Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs edged in front 7-6 in the first quarter. Hannah Pait tossed in a basket and a free throw, and Lainey Autry and Ellie Smith contributed a basket each.

Shaunessy McMillian threw in 2 baskets, and Shelby Pharr pumped in a basket for Tar Heel.  Neither team scored in the second period, and Pharr scored the only Lady Panther basket in the third quarter.

Autry bombed in a 3-point shot for the Lady Bulldogs in the third period, and Smith pumped in a basket as the Bladenboro lead grew to 12-8.

Rylee Chadwick pumped in a basket and a free throw for Bladenboro in the final period. Savannah Turbeville and Nyasia Ellison scored a basket each, and Pait dropped in a free throw.

Le’nya Harrell connected for a basket and 2 free throws in the fourth quarter, and McMillian and Pharr sank one free throw each.

Autry led the Bladenboro scoring with 5 points, and Ellie Smith and Pait followed with 4 points each. McMillian and Pharr topped the Lady Panthers with 5 points each, and Harrell totaled 4 points.
