BLADENBORO – Bladenboro’s Lady Bulldogs raced to a 17-2 halftime lead en route to a 23-10 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls basketball victory over Tar Heel Thursday.

After Harmony Jacobs tossed in a 15-footer for Tar Heel, Lainey Autry, Rylee Chadwick, MaKayla Wright, Whitney McLean and Mallory Bryan threw in a basket each as Bladenboro built a 10-2 first quarter lead.

Chadwick popped in a pair of jumpers and a free throw, and Autry drove for a lay-up as the Lady Bulldog lead grew to 17-2 at halftime.

Kelsey Williams flipped in a basket, and Wright made a free throw to stretch the lead to 20-2 at the third quarter break. Bryan, Megan Pait and Chadwick hit free throws in the fourth period for the Lady Bulldogs.

Jacobs, Kiera Lewis, Azillyah McDonald and Tiannah Willis fired in baskets for the Lady Panthers in the fourth quarter.

Chadwick led the Bladenboro scoring with 8 points, and Autry followed with 4 points. Jacobs topped the Tar Heel scoring with 4 points.

Coach Joey Autry’s Lady Bulldogs, now 2-2, and the Lady Panthers (1-2) will both play in the Bladen County Tournament at Tar Heel Monday.
