TAR HEEL – Bladenboro raced to a 10-0 first-period lead en route to a 24-10 girls basketball victory over Tar Heel Tuesday in the Bladen Five Middle School Conference opener for both schools.

Lainey Autry and Hannah Pait threw in 2 baskets each to spark the Lady Bulldogs to the early lead. Teammate Rylee Chadwick tossed in a basket in the quarter.

Hannah Hester popped in a second quarter basket, and Pait sank a free throw that kept the Lady Bulldogs up 13-4 at halftime. Le’nya Harrell and Sarah Dillard tossed in baskets for Tar Heel in the period.

Autry and Pait connected for a basket each in the third quarter as the Bladenboro lead grew to 17-6. Harrell dropped in a basket for Tar Heel in the period.

Autry knocked down a 3-point shot in the fourth quarter for the Lady Bulldogs, and teammates Grace West and Kelsey Williams pumped in a basket each.

Harrell and Lenas Blackwell scored a basket each for the Lady Panthers in the period.

Autry topped the Bladenboro scoring with 9 points, and Pait followed with 7 points. Harrell led Tar Heel with 6 points.
