BLADENBORO – Mallory Bryan and Holland Davis sank free throws in overtime Thursday that lifted Bladenboro to a 25-23 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Whiteville Central.

Bryan connected on 3 free throws, and Megan Pait tossed in a basket as the Lady Bulldogs grabbed an early 5-3 lead. Bryan threw in a basket and 2 free throws, center Brookee Singletary powered in a basket, and Davis made a free throw as the Lady Bulldog lead grew to 12-8 at halftime.

Elaysia Dawson and Iasia Smith rallied the Lady Hornets with 2 baskets each in the third quarter. Pait drained a 3-point shot, and Bryan tossed in a basket to keep Bladenboro ahead 17-16.

Davis pumped in a basket, and Bryan cashed in 4 free throws for Bladenboro in the final quarter. Dawson popped in 2 baskets and a free throw as Central knotted the score 23-23.

Bryan topped all scorers with 14 points for the winners. Pait followed with 5 points, and Davis finished with 4 points. Dawson led Central with 12 points, and Smith totaled with 8 points.

Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs, now 7-1 in Division AA play and 8-3 overall, will travel to Tar Heel Tuesday.
