NAKINA – Bladenboro’s Lady Bulldogs clinched the Waccamaw Middle School Conference’s A League Championship Wednesday with a 30-19 girls’ basketball victory over 2nd place Nakina.

Coach Otis Evans’ squad improved to 9-0 and will close out regular season play Thursday with a Homecoming game against Tabor City.

Kali Allen fired in 14 points to lead the winners. Natalee Sykes tossed in 7 points, and Micheala Hester followed with 4 points. C. Sasser led Nakina with 5 points.

Allen drove to the rim for a pair of baskets to start the game, and Sykes threw in a basket for a 6-0 lead. Hester and Addison Wilcox worked the paint for a basket each in the 2nd quarter, Allen sank 2 free throws, and Sykes made one for a 13-6 Bladenboro halftime lead.

Sykes and Allen tossed in baskets in the 3rd period. Sykes cashed in 2 free throws, and Wilcox made one as the Lady Bulldog lead grew to 20-11.

Allen bombed in a pair of 3-point shots in the final quarter for the winners. Hester and Faith Wren pumped in baskets to grow the final margin to 30-19.
