TAR HEEL – Mallory Bryan and Noria Singletary keyed a 14-5 opening surge that propelled Bladenboro to a 31-20 Waccamaw Middle School Conference victory over Tar Heel Tuesday.

Noria Singletary and Megan Pait scored first period baskets, and Bryan tossed in a free throw as the Lady Bulldogs grabbed a 5-0 lead.

Bryan pumped in 2 baskets and a free throw in the second quarter. Noria Singletary nailed a 3-shot and netted a free throw to stretch the lead to 14-5. Kiera Lewis bombed in a 3-point shot, and Alina Chavez popped in a basket for Tar Heel.

Pait, Marlie Walters and Holland Davis threw in baskets, and Noria Singletary made a free throw in the third quarter. Violet Allen answered with 3 free throws, Lewis delivered another 3-ball and Sherlyn Martinez dropped in a field goal to keep the Lady Panthers within 21-13.

Bladenboro’s Bryan, Noria Singletary, Pait and Natalie Sykes connected for a basket each in the fourth period. Bryan and Davis cashed in free throws. Lewis buried a 3-point shot, and Chavez and Tah’Leyeh Singletary drilled in baskets for Tar Heel.

Noria Singletary and Bryan topped the Lady Bulldog scoring list with 9 points each. Pait followed with 6 points. Lewis led Tar Heel with a trio of 3-point bombs for 9 points. Chavez finished with 4 points.

Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs, now 8-1 in Division AA play and 9-3 overall, will travel to Elizabethtown Thursday for a game that will decide the Waccamaw AA Division championship.
