WHITEVILLE – Mallory Bryan fired in 8 of her game-high 15 points during an 11-2 closing run that rallied Bladenboro to a 34-27 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls basketball victory over Williams Township Monday.
Williams carried a 25-23 lead into the final period, but Bryan threw in 3 baskets and 2 fee throws, and Noria Singletary nailed a 3-point shot as the Lady Bulldogs pulled away for the victory.
Brookee Singletary finished with 7 points for the winners, and Noria Singletary followed with 5 points.
Bryan dropped in a basket, and teammate Megan Pait sank a free throw to keep the Lady Bulldogs within 6-3 at the first quarter break.
Bryan tossed in another basket and a free throw in the second period, and Marly Crabtree and Noria Singletary pumped in baskets. Holland Davis canned 2 free throws for the Lady Bulldogs who trailed 16-12 at halftime.
Brookee Singletary worked inside for 3 baskets and a free throw in the third quarter. Bryan popped in a basket, and Pait buried 2 free throws as Bladenboro sliced the lead to 25-23.
Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs enter the Christmas break with a 1-0 league record and 1-1 overall mark. Bladenboro will host West Columbus on Jan. 9th.
