Kasee Singletary blistered the nets with 19 points to lead Bladenboro to a 35-18 girls basketball victory over Tar Heel in the opening round of the Bladen Five Middle School Conference Tournament at Bladenboro.
Singletary and teammate Lexie Corrothers threw in 2 first period baskets each, and Summer Addington added a bucket as the Lady Bulldogs grabbed an early 10-3 lead.
Claudia Cuc-Reyes bombed in a 3-point shot for the only Tar Heel points in the quarter.
Singletary poured in five baskets and a free throw in the second quarter as the Lady Bulldogs stretched their lead to 21-5 at halftime. Shelby Pharr connected for the only Lady Panther basket in the period.
Corrothers posted the only 2 baskets for Bladenboro in the third quarter while Jessica Labra and Brigit Zuniga answered with a basket each for Tar Heel to keep the margin at 25-9.
Singletary and Corrothers pumped in 2 baskets each for Bladenboro in the final quarter, and teammate Ellie Smith delivered a basket.
Cuc-Reyes buried another 3-point shot and also netted a 2-point shot in the fourth quarter for Tar Heel. Labra drained a pair of field goals for the Lady Panthers in the period.
Corrothers finished with 12 points for the winners. Cuc-Reyes topped the Tar Heel scoring with 8 points, and Labra followed with 6 points.
Bladenboro, now 5-2, advances to Thursday’s girls championship game against Clarkton School of Discovey. The Lady Panthers finished their season.
