Kasee Singletary poured in 24 points and Bladenboro rode a 23-0 third quarter blitz to a 43-16 Bladen Five Middle School girls basketball victory Thursday over visiting Tar Heel.

Singletary fired in 6 points and teammate Elexus Corrothers tossed in 2 more baskets as the Lady Bulldogs jumped in front 11-5 in the first period. Tar Heel’s Claudia Cuc-Reyes drained a 3-point shot, and Brigit Zuniga dropped in another Lady Panther basket.

Singletary bombed in a 3-point shot and another bucket in the second period, and teammate Jordan Benson added a basket as the Bladenboro lead grew to 18-9 at halftime. Cuc-Reyes and Zuniga tallied Tar Heel baskets in the period.

Singletary blistered the nets with 6 baskets and a free throw in the third quarter. Corrothers burnt the rims with 4 baskets in the period, and teammate Ocean Woody tossed in another basket as the Bladenboro lead grew to 41-9.

Tar Heel rallied in the final quarter as Cuc-Reyes, Jessica Labra, and Shaunessy McMillan threw in baskets, and Shelby Pharr hit a free throw. Corrothers scored the only Bladenboro basket in the period.

Corrothers finished with 14 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Cuc-Reyes led Tar Heel with 7 points, and Zuniga followed with 4 points.

The Bladenboro girls improved to 4-1 with the victory. The Lady Bulldogs travel to Elizabethtown Tuesday. Tar Heel will visit Clarkton School of Discovery.
