Elexus Corrothers and Kasee Singletary combined for 33 points to lead Bladenboro to a 43-17 Bladen Five Middle School Conference girls basketball victory Thursday at Tar Heel.

Corrothers led all scorers with 18 points for the Lady Bulldogs. Singletary racked up 15 points, and teammate Jordan Benson added 6 points.

Claudia Cuc-Reyes tallied all of her team-high 6 points for Tar Heel in the fourth quarter. Teammate Shaunessy McMillian finished with 4 points.

Singletary fired in a 3-point shot and another basket to spark the Lady Bulldogs to a 9-6 first quarter lead. Corrothers and Summer Addington threw in a basket each for Bladenboro in the quarter.

McMillian, Shelby Pharr and Brigit Zuniga tossed in a basket each for Tar Heel in the quarter.

Corrothers lit up the scoreboard with 5 second-quarter baskets as Bladenboro outscored the Lady Panthers 18-2 to take a 27-8 halftime lead. Singletary bombed in another 3-pointer and tallied 6 points in the quarter, and Benson contributed a basket.

McMillian sank 2 free throws for the Tar Heel points in the period.

A 14-0 Lady Bulldog run stretched the margin to 41-8. Corrothers pumped in 3 baskets, and Benson connected for 2 more baskets. Woodley and Singletary added 2 points each in the period.

Jessica Labra drained a 3-point shot for Tar Heel in the final quarter to go with Cuc-Reyes’ 3 baskets.

Bladenboro improves to 2-0 with the victory, while Tar Heel drops to 0-2.
