CLARKTON – Clarkton School of Discovery’s defense shutout Nakina in the second half and claimed a 27-6 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls basketball victory Monday.

AnnaGrey Heustess dropped in a pair of first quarter baskets for the Lady Blue Devils, and teammates Maegan Burney and Makayla Dixon tossed in a basket and a free throw each as Clarkton built a 10-3 lead.

Heustess threw in a basket and a free throw in the second period, and Molly Evans and Gabby Nealey pumped in a basket each as the lead grew to 17-6 at halftime.

Burney, Heustess and Karli Priest popped in a basket each in the third quarter as the Lady Blue Devil lead grew to 23-6. Nealey and Cate Devane fired in a basket each in the fourth quarter for the winners.

Heustess led the Clarkton scoring with 9 points, and Burney followed with 5 points. Nealey totaled 4 points.

Coach Chris Callihan’s Lady Blue Devils improved to 11-1 for the season and will travel to Hallsboro Tuesday.
