Khadijah Jones tossed in 8 of her game-high 18 points in the fourth quarter as Clarkton School of Discovery rallied for a 33-31 Bladen Five Middle School Conference girls basketball victory at Bladenboro.
Bladenboro took a 23-21 lead into the final period, but Lorna Mendell and Lauren Bowen scored 2 points each in the quarter as the Lady Blue Devils rode a 12-8 surge to the victory.
Elexus Corrothers and Kasee Singletary tallied 4 points each for Bladenboro in the quarter.
Four points by Jones and 2 each from Katie Evans and Abbie Cross helped CSD take an 8-4 first quarter lead. Corrothers threw in the first 4 Lady Bulldog points.
Three more points by Jones and 2 each by Tara Rogers and Cross pushed the Lady Blue Devil lead to 16-10 at halftime. Four more points from Corrothers and 2 by Singletary kept Bladenboro close.
Corrothers pumped in 5 points in the third period, and Singletary tacked on 4 more. Jordan Benson and Tykia Deloach dropped in 2 points each as the Lady Bulldogs rode a 13-5 spurt to the 23-21 lead.
Three points by Jones and 2 by Rogers accounted for the Clarkton points. Rogers and Cross finished with 4 points each for the Lady Blue Devils.
Corrothers topped the Bladenboro scoring with 17 points, and Singletary followed with 10 points.
The victory vaulted Clarkton into a first-place tie with the Lady Bulldogs. Both teams are 3-1 in league play.
