CLARKTON – Clarkton School of Discovery rolled to a 25-3 first half lead en route to a 40-7 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls basketball victory over Williams Thursday.

AnnaGrey Heustess and Maegan Burney threw in 2 baskets each in the first quarter as the Lady Blue Devils raced to a 12-2 first quarter lead. Heustess pumped in 2 baskets and 3 free throws in the second period, and MaKayla Dixon, Cate Devane and Gabby Nealey added a basket each.

Burney tossed in 2 baskets in the third quarter, and Heustess dropped in a basket and a free throw as the lead grew to 36-3. Emma Turbeville and Molly Evans popped in baskets in the period.

Dixon and Emmee Ward scored the final Clarkton baskets in the fourth quarter.

Heustess led all scorers with 14 points, and Burney finished with 8 points. Dixon totaled 4 points.

Coach Chris Callihan’s Lady Blue Devils improved to 4-1 on the season and will play at Tar Heel in the Bladen County Tournament Monday.
