LAKE WACCAMAW- Kayla Hall and Ryleigh Owens sparked a 15-2 2nd quarter spurt that propelled East Columbus to a 35-14 Waccamaw Middle School Conference ‘AA’ Division girls’ basketball victory over Tar Heel Tuesday.

Hall rang up 4 of her game-high 10 points during the decisive run, and Owens tossed in 4 of her 6 points. Charity Beard finished with 8 points for the Lady Hawks.

ZaAsia Lewis worked the paint for baskets in each of the first 3 periods and shared Tar Heel scoring honors of 6 points each with Abigail Dew. Dew buried a 3-point shot in the 3rd quarter and connected on 3 of 5 free throws in the 2nd half. Teammate Jasmine Robeson sank 2 free throws in the final period.

The Lady Panthers, now 0-3 in league play and 0-5 overall, will visit Clarkton Wednesday.
