ELIZABETHTOWN – Four different players tossed in baskets in the 3rd quarter as Elizabethtown rode an 8-4 spurt to a 19-14 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls basketball victory over East Columbus Thursday.

Sana’a Singletary, Mariah Ward, Aaliyah Monroe and Arian Fields all scored baskets in the 3rd period as the Lady Cougars opened up a 15-11 lead. Ellen Battle fired in 2 baskets in the final quarter to keep Elizabethtown ahead.

Monroe led the Lady Cougars with 6 points, and Battle threw in 5 points. Singletary added 3 points. M. Webb topped the Lady Hawk scoring with 5 points.

Harmony Richardson and Singletary sank free throws in the 1st quarter for Elizabethtown. Monroe popped in 2 baskets in the 2nd quarter.

Coach Cedric Owens’ Lady Cougars will host Clarkton School of Discovery Tuesday at 5:15 in the Bladen County Tournament.
