ELIZABETHTOWN – Alexus Mitchell and Kayleigh Raynor combined for 14 points to lead Elizabethtown to a 20-10 Bladen Five Middle School Conference girls basketball victory over Bladenboro Thursday.

Both teams struggled to score early as a Mitchell basket gave the Lady Cougars a 2-1 lead. Nyasia Ellison’s free throw accounted for the Bladenboro point.

Raynor fired in a trio of baskets in the second quarter, and Mitchell threw in another basket as Elizabethtown built a 10-3 halftime lead. Emma Smith tossed in the only Bladenboro basket in the quarter.

Mitchell, Lavada Jackson and Alzariah Rhodie pumped in a basket each in the third period, and Carlie West sank 2 free throws to stretch the Elizabethtown lead to 18-6.

Ellison connected for a Bladenboro basket in the quarter, and teammate Ocean Woody hit a free throw.

Mitchell scored her final basket in the fourth quarter to lead the Lady Cougars with 8 points. Raynor finished with 6 points for the winners.

Ellie Smith and Hannah Hester scored baskets for Bladenboro in the final period. Ellison led the Lady Bulldogs with 3 points.
