CHADBOURN – Ariel Cromartie poured in 18 points Tuesday to lead Elizabethtown to a 28-8 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over West Columbus.

Cromartie ignited an 11-0 opening blitz by the Lady Cougars with 3 baskets and a free throw. Teammates Niyah Wooten and Sanaa Singletary threw in a basket each during the run.

Cromartie tossed in 2 more baskets in the 2nd quarter, and Mariah Ward flipped in a basket as the Elizabethtown lead grew to 17-3. Cromartie sank 2 more baskets and a free throw as the Lady Cougars extended their lead to 22-6 in the 3rd period.

Wooten fired in a pair of baskets in the final quarter, and Cromartie added a basket.  Wooten finished with 6 points for the winners.

Coach Cedric Owens’ Lady Cougars raised their record to 3-1 and will visit East Columbus Thursday.
