WHITEVILLE – Zhariana Shipman blistered the nets with 33 points Wednesday as she led Whiteville Central to a 46-18 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ basketball victory over Elizabethtown.

Shipman tallied 20 of her points in the 1st half as Central built a 27-11 lead, then added 9 more in the 3rd quarter.

Ariel Cromartie tossed in 4 of her team-high 8 points for the Lady Cougars in the opening period. Niyah Wooten sank a free throw and a basket to keep Elizabethtown within 13-7 at the quarter break.

Cromartie and Nia McKoy threw in a basket each in the 2nd period. Sanaa Singletary popped in a 3rd quarter bucket for Elizabethtown, and Wooten made a free throw. Cromartie and Singletary netted a basket each in the final period.

Wooten and Singletary finished with 4 points each for the Lady Cougars who are now 3-6 and will host West Columbus Thursday in their regular season finale.
